Rite of Christian Initiation

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process through which interested adults become members of the Catholic Church. Those unbaptized or baptized in another faith who would like to learn more about the teachings are invited to join our RCIA group for inquiry.

Those who are interested can call the Parish Office or email Father Mike @ mhaag30@hotmail.com.

Adult Initiation:

Adults and children past the age of third grade are received into the Church through the Sacraments of Initiation Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist celebrated at the Easter Vigil after participation in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). A full year of preparation classes are required prior to Initiation. Contact Father Mike for more information.

First Communion and Confirmation Requirements:

First Communion and Confirmation are typically performed in 3rd grade in our Diocese. Due to the young age our children are   receiving these sacraments, a full year of PSR/ school is required after which an additional year of sacramental specific instruction is required prior to your child        receiving these sacraments. This ensures your child is ready to receive the sacraments and understands them.

If your child has not been baptized and is under 7 years of age, please contact Father Mike after mass to get your child baptized first.

If your child has not been baptized and is over the age of 7, your child and you will go through the Children’s OCIA process, which will take a year. Your child will then be baptized on the Easter vigil as well as receive Confirmation and First Eucharist.
