Confirmation

When we are confirmed, we receive the Holy Spirit, through the anointing with oil and the laying on of hands by the bishop or a priest appointed by him. Those already baptized are strengthened by the Holy Spirit in order that they may steadfastly profess the faith and faithfully live up to their profession.

Children

Children who were baptized as infants prepare for this sacrament in third grade in addition to First Eucharist. Confirmation preparation for children happens either through Ss. Peter & Paul School or Parish School of Religion (PSR). In addition to lessons during their religion class times, candidates for Confirmation may also be invited to participate in additional formation sessions to further emphasize the value of the sacraments.

Adults

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is a process through which interested adults become members of the Catholic Church.  If you are un-baptized or baptized in another faith and would like to learn more about the teachings of the Catholic Church, please call the Parish Office to find out more about the OCIA process.

Adult Initiation:

Adults and children past the age of third grade are received into the Church through the Sacraments of Initiation Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist celebrated at the Easter Vigil after participation in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). A full year of preparation classes are required prior to Initiation. Contact Father Mike for more information.

First Communion and Confirmation Requirements:

First Communion and Confirmation are typically performed in 3rd grade in our Diocese. Due to the young age our children are   receiving these sacraments, a full year of PSR/ school is required after which an additional year of sacramental specific instruction is required prior to your child        receiving these sacraments. This ensures your child is ready to receive the sacraments and understands them.

If your child has not been baptized and is under 7 years of age, please contact Father Mike after mass to get your child baptized first.

If your child has not been baptized and is over the age of 7, your child and you will go through the Children’s OCIA process, which will take a year. Your child will then be baptized on the Easter vigil as well as receive Confirmation and First Eucharist.
