Please pray with us the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month at 12 noon for Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament. During that quiet time, we will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the sick and dying for 15 minutes then continue with quiet adoration. At 1:00 pm we will go downstairs to Beveridge Hall, where we will have snacks and drinks and read the Diary of Divine Mercy by Sister Faustina of the promises made to her by Jesus. Every Sunday gather with us in front of the church on Vandalia St under the trees to pray the...
The Glory of Jesus true nature shone through his human nature in the mystery of the Transfiguration. Jesus gave the disciples this ‘preview’ of his resurrected glory to encourage them as they approached his passion and death. We heard the Father’s voice revealing the person and mission of Jesus as ‘My beloved Son, listen to him’. It was to be a help to the disciples and to us as we journey in faith during this Holy Season of Lent. We are to commit unreservedly to Jesus. We are to believe in him completely. Ash Wednesday and the First Sunday of Lent have already come and gone. The simplicity, humility, and boldness of this man helps us to see his faith. He believes that Jesus has the power and authority of God and could actually ‘will’ his healing and make him clean again. What is it that makes us unclean or isolates us from community and intimacy with others? We realize that Jesus has come to set us free from those things, attitudes, and...
Jesus shows deep compassion for Simon Peter’s mother-in-law and restores her to health. She becomes a model for all those called to discipleship. She is healed and raised- up and begins to minister to Jesus…real discipleship/stewardship. This is an example for all of us. Once freed from the bonds of sin/Satan we are now truly free to serve…generously and fully…the Kingdom of God. Jesus demonstrates God’s deep compassion for the sick and suffering by responding to all who come to him. Since they hear he is in the neighborhood families bring their sick and those afflicted in anyway…and Jesus...
